Self Portrait

This is my Self Portrait I made for my Advance Digital Art Class. I took a timed photo and sat in my chair. In photoshop I added the blue glow to the window.

The Bright white light coming from the computer screen is supposed to mean my reliance on computers today for everything; The white light pulls me in, it is hindering. The red light coming from my desk contrasts with the white light from the computer. Yeah computers are very important in my life but what if I relie on it too much and feel trapped ? Finally there's the blue glowing window hope, a blue sky signifying freedom,  and a neutral future.

Gordon the cheater is a animation parody of the videogame "Half-Life". Our Protagonist is late to work so he uses a keyboard to change different aspects of his world through cheating . I Would say this animation doesn't have that much story behind it besides getting into point a to b but, I would say most of the entertainment value comes from the exaggerated animation and the impractical decisions of our protagonist.

The Process

I actually have been working on this project on and off since July of 2020 but, that was only about the very first 15 seconds. I continued my project by just guessing what the protagonist would logically do next then half the time subverting that expectation so the viewer would have no idea what would happen next. First I animated the project using a the sandbox videogame : Garry's Mod then, I put the frames together in my video editing program Premiere Pro. I then added sound effects and some other visual things and I was done.

I Kept going but, I realized I was running out of time to finish it up so, before the due date I pulled 3 all-nighters in a row sometimes working 6 hours at once. I never got tired of working on this project because it was something I always enjoyed doing in my free time anyways.

What I learned

I learned that time isn't a problem for a project if it's something I truly love doing.
